Welcome to Charlotte H
Charlotte H was founded in March 2005 to provide support and social activities for individuals living with Herpes (Types 1 & 2) and Human Papillomavirus (HPV High Risk & Warts) in Charlotte, North Carolina and surrounding areas. Today we have over 1500 members from all over the United States who come here to find support, anonymity, fun, and friendship. In addition, some of our members are actively involved in spreading awareness to those outside the H community to prevent further spread of these viruses. As a real Charlotte community and as a registered non-profit organization, Charlotte H has made an impact locally to dispel the social stigma attached to these viruses.
Mission Statement
Charlotte H is a member-run community which provides support and fellowship to adults who have been diagnosed with Herpes Simplex Virus Types 1 & 2 (HSV1 & HSV2) and/or Human papillomavirus (HPV). The organization’s goal is to create a safe and fun environment for individuals to heal and grow after their diagnoses. In addition, we actively support HSV/HPV awareness, resources, and education to our local community.

Facts
For most people, living with the social stigma of being diagnosed with a chronic STD is the hardest part of living with Herpes or HPV. Approximately 20-25% of adults have genital Herpes, 80% have oral Herpes, and 50% of adults have HPV. However, 90% of people who have these viruses do not know they have them. Both Herpes and HPV are transmitted through skin-to-skin contact (not through bodily fluids) through oral sex, sex (even with a condom), while the infected person is on suppression medication, or even when they have never had symptoms at all. “Complete” STD tests rarely test for Herpes or HPV. Therefore, most people have never been tested.
How to Join
Charlotte H is a members-only (i.e. you have to have HSV1, HSV2, or HPV) group to protect the privacy of our members. By joining the Charlotte H Yahoo Group, new members will receive the group password needed to view events and photos. This will also give you the opportunity to receive message board postings and important announcements from other members and group moderators.
